“A Christmas Carol” is a film based on the Charles Dickens’s classic tale, and is about an old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, a sour old man with absolutely no sweetness or kindness in his heart. He is especially uncharitable towards his employee, Bob Cratchett and his son, Tiny Tim.

To cure him of his cold heart, he has to face three ghosts this Christmas– the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. His encounter with these Christmas ghosts makes him realise the folly of his ways. They provide him with a grim reminder of a person that he used to be and what has become of him today, and the consequences of him continuing with his bad ways. These consequences scare him no end and he decides to mend his ways immediately. All these come as an eye opener for the old miser, who isn’t left with any option but to turn good before it gets too late.

The story is set during Christmas, the most joyful time for most of us. And this particular Christmas turns Scrooge’s world around and brings the much needed truth and meaning to his life.

A Christmas Carol is a 3-D movie starring Gary Oldman, Jim Carrey, Robin Wright Penn and Colin Firth who lend their voices to the characters

This movie is an updated version, in which Jim Carrey plays four different roles – one that of Scrooge and the three Christmas Ghosts (Past, Present, Yet-to-come). His portrayal of these characters is impressive and keeps all the characters largely diverse.

The previous version of this Charles Dickens classic story was made decades ago. This is a much awaited remake directed by Robert Zemeckis, an Academy Award-winning filmmaker, who has previously directed the Back to the Future trilogy. He gets a chance to revive this beautiful tale through the sands of time.

A Christmas Carol will soon be released in IMAX 3-D and Disney Digital 3-D. This movie looks visually impressive and with a cast of this stature, it could well be a box office hit of the year. The amazing sets, colourful costumes and interesting special effects in this movie are truly worth the watch. Walt Disney and Robert Zemeckis together make a strong combination and it will be rather tough for them to disappoint.

Walt Disney Pictures has also released a new featurette in 3-D animation. This footage features the director Robert Zemeckis, Jim Carrey and the Producer Steve Starkey.

A Christmas Carol will be a perfect treat this Yuletide without a doubt! So let us meet these ghosts of Christmas and change our view of life to make it much better and meaningful, and be good and kind to everyone.
