Taking Woodstock is a masterpiece in its own way. From the movie trailers we have seen, this is fairly understandable. The movie is absolutely stunning and beautiful as it is made with the intensity and the amazing hype that revolved around the Woodstock festival during the year of 1970. Obviously, this movie will not appeal to you if you are not a fan of the Woodstock festival. The hippies were quite an interesting part of the last millennium and for those who want to know more about that exciting period, it is recommended to watch the movie that was made with the actual Woodstock festival footage during those times.

Coming back to the plot of “Taking Woodstock”, the movie is extremely interesting, and it is not directly related to the festival, and is based more on the personal life and the anticipation of protagonist towards this festival. The movie is based on the true life story of the character of Eliot Tiber ( Demetri Martin). Director Ang Lee makes the movie with hardly any form of troubles whatsoever. Being an Oscar winner for the two magnificent movies like ‘Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon’ and ‘Brokeback Mountain’, Lee knows exactly what he is doing. The unbelievable part of the movie is that the director has painstakingly recreated the entire 1970s setting without a single footage from the archives. The result is nothing less than a beautiful, well-crafted set that is extremely identical to the real deal. This is where Ang Lee shows his creative edge and makes the film far more special and very appealing even to an individual who has no idea about the Woodstock era.

The plot of the cinema is amazing and very well crafted. The movie is the story of Demetri Martin, who hears about the hippie music festival playing in the neighboring city, and his desire to bring the festival to his town. He finally succeeds, and in turn, makes it one of the most famous knowledgeable events in the last century. The success of Ang Lee was seen in the past, but this is undoubtedly his best movie. The sets, the ambience, the music and a lot more, would make any Woodstock fan feel like he is put right back into the original setting. The acting may have been overshadowed by the celebration at the Woodstock. The main character of the movie is the Woodstock festival itself and this is what has been portrayed really well.
The movie is great. Be it the music, screenplay or the cinematography, the movie excels in just about anything and everything. This is what makes the movie great or even special to the millions of fans all over the world.
