Richard Jenkins has joined the cast of Dear John, Lasse Hallstrom’s adaptationof Nicholas Sparks’ best selling novel.
The film is a romantic drama, where Jenkins will play the father of a young soldier played by Channing tatum who meets the girl of his dreams played by Amanda Seyfried while on military leave. The only part of this news that sounds interesting is the fact that Richard Jenkins is part of the film.
The Gersh repped Jenkins recently joined the filming on the project in South Carolina. He got a lot of buzz after his role in Overture’s The Visitor and a memorable turn in the Coen Brothers Burn After Reading.
Ryan Kavanaugh’s is producing the film; Screen Gems will distribute the film domestically.

Infact watching him in the TV series Six Feet Under is enough. The Visitor and Burn after Reading, esp the latter, seem natural follow throughs. But this one..well..its a surprise..
