A scene from Training Day

We had news about this project for some time now. Denzel Washington was associated with this project in the beginning. Then we had some news that Gary Oldman also was part of the cast of the film. The film will be directed by Albert and Allen Hughes also known as the Hughes brothers. The Book Of Eli is a post apocalyptic western, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. We will get into the details on the story some time later.

Denzel Washington plays the lone warrior and Gary Oldman will join him as the villain named Carnegie. There is a little more revealed about the story. The character Eli must “fight to bring society the knowledge that could be the key to its redemption,” Carnegie is “the despot of a small makeshift town who’s determined to take possession of the book Eli’s guarding.” The script was written by first timer Gary Whitta. The Hughes brothers last directed From Hell in 2001 as well as Dead Presidents. So this will surely be an interesting follow up.
