The film is one of the best books I have read in ages. The film is directed by Steve Jacobs’ and it is adapted from J.M.Coetzee’s Disgrace for some time.
It is a novel very close to many people’s hearts. John Malkovich is surely the best casting choice done in ages. The film is set in South Africa but the visuals from Australia make the movie look beautiful. The film got the critics award at the recently concluded Toronto Film Festival and is sure going to be one of the dark horses this year.
A trailer for the movie has just appeared. It is really simple exactly like how the book was but with some really interesting visuals of the Eastern landscape.
Malkovich, who appears in some ways to be channeling Coetzee himself, seems to have captured the right balance for this character. South African newcomer Jessica Haines plays the woman also promisingly. The film is surely going to be one of the films to watch out for next year.
Here is the trailer for the movie. Click here

JM seems apt in this role. The book was quite depressing. What happens to him and his daughter – it was like, this whole scenanrio was just waiting to happen. The whole story built up to something like this. And finally what happens to the daughter and her decision, it kind of baffles me till date. I mean after being tormented yet she decides on living on there. Unable to fathom it at times.
