After lots of negotiating, pulling out, and more negotiating, both Sony and Paramount are finally in talks to co finance Steven Spielberg’s Tintin trilogy.

Universal backed out a few months ago from the project. This left both Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson without any financing for this movie Paramount eventually offered them 135 million dollars, however the idea was to film Tintin in 3D with photorealistic performance capture technology, so the pair held out for a better deal. So Sony also became partner in the financing games of this project.

In the deal currently being negotiated, Paramount is planning to distribute in North America and some other English speaking territories, while Sony would handle the foreign release.

Spielberg will be now busy filming the first installment of the project soon. The lead actor of the movie will be changed now because of the delay in the project.

When all the deals are done Spielberg will most likely get to work on the first of the three TinTin movies, with a planned release of 2010, another development is the inclusion of Peter Jackson for the second film, and then hopefully by 2012 they will decide on who will direct the third movie.
