Paramount has just picked up the rights for Agnes Quill: An Anthology of Mystery. The novel is written by Dave Roman and first published in 2006. Thor Freudenthal will direct the adaptation of the film. Evan Spiliotopoulos will write the script for the adaptation for this film. The novel tells the story of Agnes Quill, who upon turning 16 inherits an estate. She also gets the ability to see and communicate with the dead, from her grandfather. It is one of the first projects produced by Adam Goodman. It will be the first after his recent split of Dreamworks from Paramount.
Synopsis
Agnes Quill is the story of a teenage detective, the haunted city she lives in, the strange cases she solves, and the ghosts who help, hinder, or just plain annoy her. Set in Legerdemain a congested, fog-filled, cobblestone-paved Victorian city built around a cemetery the size of Central Park Agnes adventures include confrontations with trapped spirits, cursed souls, possessed relatives, disappearing pets, decapitated scientists, ambitious zombies, and a mess of other supernatural oddities.
Since it is a graphic novel, it will surely have several supporters who want to be associated with it. It also sounds like a creepy story and reminiscent of Sixth Sense. But I hope the writers do a good job in adapting this novel.
