Guy Pearce in Traitor

Guy Pearce has signed on to play a troubled cop in Animal Kingdom. It is an Aussie drama about a 17 year old boy torn between his criminal family and the cop who thinks he can save him.

Joel Edgerton, Jackie Weaver and Ben Mendelsohn are also attached to the project for the time being.

The film is the feature debut of shorts writer and director David Michod.

It will be represented for international sales by Maximum Sales and distributed in Oz by Madman and paybox Showtime.

Animal Kingdom was financed by federal coin agency Screen Australia on Tuesday.
