Kelly Reichardt’s look at poverty, sympathy and generosity at the friges os American Life, Wendy and Lucy has finally got a trailer. The film is blessed with a tour de force performance from its female protagonist played by Michelle Williams that is truly Oscar worthy. The film shows a bleak portrayal of how people who have to go to great lengths to survive in the face of poverty. The film will be getting a December release and many critics are voicing an early Oscar nomination for the actress whose portrayal has been totally an experience.

It is true that Williams is the true force behind this film and it really pushes envelop of poverty to the extreme. It is surely going to be one of those unforgettable performances of this year. But the chances for the Oscar seem too bleak because of the number of competitors this season.

Synopsis

Wendy Carroll (Michelle Williams) is driving to Ketchikan, Alaska, in hopes of a summer of lucrative work at the Northwestern Fish cannery, and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she confronts a series of increasingly dire economic decisions, with far-ranging repercussions for herself and her dog.
