With the London Film festival underway few would suspect the understated attitude of the festival after the premier of Oscar hopeful Frost Nixon. The film didn’t receive a really good welcome with Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian not approving of this stage adaptation. The film assembled a heavy weight cast with Michael Sheen and Frank Langella taking the centre stage in this political drama. Frank Langella plays Richard Nixon the president of the United States with an eye for the Top Prize. The film turns out to be a battle of wits which was unlike its stage version. The writer Peter Morgan who writes the famous Queen film for Stephen Frears seems to meddle with the facts a little bit to make it a little more interesting.
Another problems faced by the film was the addition of the producer director team of Ron Howard and Brian Gazer who are known for their obstruction of facts in their previous works. So this is sure going to weigh down on the festival proceedings. But this so of most of the festivals this year with a bad premier showing, but then it pushes forward with some interesting films. Let us hope the American critics cut the movie some more slack unlike their British counterparts.
