The new movie from Darren Aronofsky has been generating some really good buzz, after its win at the Venice film Festival. The Oscar race has found a new winner this year in Randy The Ram Robinson played by almost lost Mickey Rourke.
We have got a clip for the movie which will cement the reason for all the buzz surrounding his performance. There were two clips but we will be showin only one because the other one is dubbed. It shows Rouke’s ‘Ram’ fighting a wrestler known as ‘The Ayatollah’. And as The Playlist explains, The Ayatollah is based on the WWF’s The Iron Shiek, who was popular during the mid-80s, whereas Rourke’s character is modeled after Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage.
The next moment in the film, which many people are calling Rourke’s Oscar moment, but we are not sure what we can get the buzz from this. It shows Rourke’s character having an emotional discussion with his daughter, played by Evan Rachel Wood who is also receiving a little bit of buzz as well.
The Wrestler will be in theaters on December 19 th. It is currently playing at the New York Film Festival. As well, you can check out some clips from the film’s NYFF Press Conference over on Fox.
