Bruno Dumont

The controversial French film director who is known for his subliminal work in movies like Flanders, Twenty Nine Palms and L’humanite, is all set to direct his next in the town of Flanders. He has won several prized at the Cannes Film Festival. His influences range from Stanley Kubrick, Ingmar Bergman, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Roberto Rossellini and Abbas Kiarostami.

Dumont’s next feature will be Hadewijch, a Flanders set story about a 20 year old nun whose blind ecstatic faith shocks the mother superior. She is forced from the convent and on to a dangerous path. This looks like a reference from the Sound of Music but with the Dumont factor is surely not going to be as pleasant as the Hollywood movie.
