Anthony Hemingway is known for his work on the Wire and many other TV shows. He is now in talks with George Lucas the direct a World War II epic titled Red Tails. Hemingway has also done a lot of assistant director work for some important films. This will be his feature length debut. Red Tails revolves around the young pilots, who overcame institutional racism in the military to form the Tuskegee Airmen, the fliers who became the first African American fighter pilots in US military history during the World War II.

George Lucas will be the executive producer on this film and also developed the story. The screenplay was written by John Ridley whose previous works include U Turn, Three Kings and Undercover Brother. He co wrote the script with Rick McCallum. The film will begin shooting the film in March next year in Italy, Prague and Crotia. This sounds like an exciting departure for Lucas films. Another thing will be the fact that there might not be a Star Wars Film in the pipeline. That is a sigh of relief. They sort of stretched that one a little too much.
