Miramax has just bought the North American and Western European rights of The Boys are Back starring Clive Owen.

It is an adaptation of Simon Carr’s seriocomic novel The Boys are Back in Town, Owen will play a widower struggling to raise his two sons. Laura Fraser and Emma booth also star in this movie.

Greg Brenman and Tim White will be producing this movie which will begin shooting from today.

“”I had been wanting to continue the relationship with Scott Hicks I had started so long ago on ‘Shine,’ ” Miramax president Daniel Battsek said. “Once Clive signed on, all of the pieces fell into place.”

Tiger Aspect Pictures and Southern Light Films are co-producers in association with BBC Films and Film Finance Corporation of Australia. HanWay Films is handling international sales and distribution in other territories.
