Paramount has just signed on Josh Olson of History Of Violence to write the script for the novel One Shot into a thriller, bringing child’s character Jack Reacher to the big screen for the first time. In the novel, a former military man who has become a policeman contends with an ex infantry specialist who was arrested for shooting five people.
Josh Olson was quoted as saying, “I had just finished watching the first two Dirty Harry movies on Blu-ray, and I thought, ‘No one’s making movies like that anymore.’ It coincided perfectly. It’s just the kind of movie that I haven’t seen in a while. It’s a tough, smart, action-oriented thriller.”
The film is all set to roll out next year. The film has a similar plotline to Mark Wahlberg’s Shooter, released in 2004. That film was based on the Stephen Hunter novel titled Point of Impact.
Olson will also be reinventing Frank Baum’s Oz.
