The Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr starrer The Soloist will open the 2008 AFI Los Angeles International film festival at ArcLight Hollywood’s Cinerama Dome Theatre on October 30 th.

The film follows the life of a run down journalist who has sort of lost his way with words played by Robert downey Jr. The journalist crosses path with a homeless man with truly unique gift with the Cello. It brings him to write an article about the man and also makes him see the world in a totally different light. The Opening Night Gala screening will also serve as the pics North American premier. The film is scheduled to release on November 21 st.

The AFI Fest 2008 is presented by Audi and will run from October 30 th to November 9 th. The film is directed by Joe Wright whose last credit include Pride and Prejudice and Atonement
