Finally the word is out and Warner Bros has just greenlit a prequel for I Am Legend. Will Smith has signed on once again for this movie. He will reprise his role as Robert Neville, and Francis Lawrence is back in the director’s chair. So if this is the case then Lawrence won’t have time work on Chuck Plahnuik’s Survivor. D.B. Weiss will be writing the script for the movie and detailed plotline is yet to be out.

The film will follow Neville in the last days before and after the man made virus that kills and mutates New York City. A sequel was considered, but obviously wouldn’t have been possible without starting over with a completely new lead character/actor. So this will be a pretty interesting take for the film. Many of the ideas on this project might have increased scope for some gruesome action and weird transformations. This will be interesting play ground for Lawrence to play with.
