Rachel McAdams

Rachel Mcadams and Jude Law are said to star opposite Robert Downey Junior in the reimagining of the Sir Authur Conan Doyle’s supersleuth that Guy Ritchie is directing for Warner Bros and Village Roadshow.

The shooting will start for the movie next month. It takes its cues from the forthcoming comic book that producer Lionel Wigram wrote as a selling tool for a new take on the classic character. The concept sees Holmes as more adventurous and less stuffy than previous screen incarnations and mines more obscure character traits.

Mark Strong will play the main villain in this movie named Blackwood. Jude Law is portraying Holmes colleague Watson. Robert Downey Jr will play the title role of the film.

McAdams will play Holmes love interest Irene Adler, a character who has appeared only once in “A Scandal in Bohemia.” While the character only appeared in that one story, McAdams personage will return for any possible sequels to the movie.

McAdams is set to star in State of Play for which she shares screen space with Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe. Another big movie and one of my personal favorites Time Traveler’s Wife is set to release in 2009.
