Dubai Festival takes a ‘Day After Peace’

The Dubai festival is joining a campaign for world Peace. The festival which operates under the logo “bridging cultures, meeting minds,” will host a special screening of Jeremy Gilley’s feature length documentary The Day After Peace in support of the UN Internation Day of Peace Initiative.

The screening will be held under the patronage of the Princess Haya wife of Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed al Maktoum. The documentary features some known names like Jude Law, Angelina Jolie, the Dalia Lama and Kofi Annan discussing Gilley’s decade long efforts to establish a globally recognized annual day of non violence and ceasefire. The film ends with Giley and Law traveling to Afghanistan as part of a vaccination drive against polio in the country.

The organizers of the festival are also trying to get some of the pictures featured personalities to this year’s fifth edition, which will be inaugurated between December 11 th and 18 th.

The announcement of the film’s screening came on Sunday which was this years peace day.

“In modern times like these, where practically anything is possible, it is our responsibility as human beings to strive for the greater good of human kind,” said fest chairman Abdulhamid Juma. “We must do what we can for the well being of people of all ages, genders and races.”
