Ehren Kruger pondering

Screenwriter Ehren Kruger will write an adaptation of Boston Teran’s book God is a Bullet. The story is about the journey a California lawman forced to go undercover to rescue his daughter from a ruthless gang of criminals who have abducted her. Kruger will also produce the movie. The rights for the film were picked up Bradley Bell. Kruger’s latest works include the Transformers sequel and the next David Fincher movie Torso. So he is sure to have his hands full for the next year.

Summary of the story

Strung-out on junk and tattooed with the dates of helter-skelter-style deaths they’ve caused, the kids who walk “The Left-Handed Path” talk Satanic talk and spread terror through the very Christian Southern California town of Clay. This tautly paced and harrowing debut thriller begins with the cult’s murder of desk cop Bob Hightower’s ex-wife and her husband, and the kidnapping of his 14-year-old daughter, Gabi. Desperate and driven, Hightower takes a leave of absence to look for the abducted girl.

This is surely going to be something to watch out for. The book upon release had got some really positive reviews. So I think this movie will carry some weight and buzz in the next couple of months. The casting will surely determine the power of Kruger’s script.
