The film festival will open with The Man Who Loves, a film staring Monica Bellucci and Pierfrancesco Favino. The film is directed by Maria Sole Tognazzi.
The film will kick of the gala event and seems to be a little low compared to last year. Nicole Kidman opened the festival with the Fur and followed by Bellucci alongside Daniel Auteuil in 2007 for Gallic film Second Breath.
However the film which is not a UN commissioned film 8 which comprises of shorts of a string of great directors like Gus Van Sant, Mira Nair, Jane Campion, Wim Wenders and Gael Garcia Bernal, taking the subject of hunger, will be one of the films that will surely have an international feel.
Other titles include The Duchess starring Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes. Another film which has been getting a lot of mileage is the terrorist drama Der Baader Meinhof Komplex and Isabelle Huppert’s Un Barrage conre Le Pacifique.
Vetran Gina Lollobrigida will be conferred with the life time achievement award.
