Paul Verhoeven is all set to return to his favorite genre erotic. The Basic Instinct director is in talks to direct the untitled Wendy Miller thriller for Relativity Media. The plot is about a college intern, who finds himself trapped in a dangerous affair with the boss’s wife. The project is being described as a cross between Risky Business and Fatal Attraction.
Michael De Luca, who has been in the news for producing the right scripts, is all set to produce this one under his Sony Based De Luca Productions. Relativity, which picked up the script in May, has speeded up the project and is trying to start in the first quarter of next year. Miller is right now in the rewrite stages with the director’s supervision.
De Luca is already set to produce the Jim Sheridan film starring Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire is on a pick up spree.
Verhoeven’s last outing was the critically acclaimed 2006 World War II film Black Book. He is also attached to do the sequel to the Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan.
