Photos of the late director Ingmar Bergman have been exhibited at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm. He directed some of the works of a number of Nobel Prize winners.
“Bergman in Pictures/Nobel Prize Winners Get a Director” is the name of the exhibition that runs from September 21 st to January 18 th
Through the lenses of 7 photographers the exhibition aims to show Bergman in action. He is known for his adaptation of plays by Nobel Laureates like Par Lagerkvist, Albert Camus, Luigi Pirandello, Harry Martinson and Eugene O’Neill. There are also still from the film and sequences that Bergman himself made depicting the work on the sets.
This will coincide with a lauch of a book titled Director Bergman which will simultaneously be published in Sweden, the US, UK, France and Germany. The book will contain more than 1100 pictures of Bergman at work or in private situations. It has been edited by Paul Duncan and Swedish photographer Bengt Wanselius. The text in the book is mostly written by Bergman himself but also includes some new writings by friends like actors Erland Josephson.
It will also contain a DVD with some of the helmers Home movies.
