A scene from Hurt Locker

Two films, which have surely made a small hue and cry at the recently concluded Toronto Film festival, Che and Hurt Locker have just been picked up. Che has been sold to IFC, while The Hurt Locker has been picked up by Summit Entertainment. But finally Che will be getting the released that it deserves after weeks of speculations. The close to 4 hour biopic will have two separate releases with the first of the two releasing by the end of this year. The next part of the film will be released at a separate time.

The Hurt Locker an Iraq war film that has been getting loads of praise for its approach. The film stars Ralph Fiennes and Guy Pierce. There were early rumors that Magnolia had picked up the rights for this film but IFC finally nabbed them. IFC doesn’t have a history with many popular titles. The film will have two separate screening of both the parts with Steven Sodenberg demanding they be shown back to back. “After a one-week awards qualifying run in Los Angeles and New York in December, IFC will reopen the film in January through IFC on VOD and in theaters.” So I just hope both the parts will be shown in their entirety without much of cuts.

“Hurt Locker” focuses on a U.S. military bomb squad stationed in Baghdad that faces life-or-death situations on a daily basis. Jeremy Renner, Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes star in the film, which is loosely based on the experiences of journalist Mark Boal, who was embedded for Playboy magazine with a bomb unit in Baghdad. The film has been receiving a lot of good positive buzz and is sure going to be one of the front runners at this years Oscars.
