Emily Mortimer from her latest movie

They both have signed for the British vigilante film. It centers on an elderly ex serviceman and widower, who lives alone in a community that has been decimated by drugs and gun crime. But when his best friend is found dead, Caine dispenses his own style of justice. This is really familiar territory for the Get Carter man. It is surely going to be another one of those cut throat roles that Michael Caine will have fun with. Mortimer plays a young policewoman.

“It’s a modern urban Western that reflects the stark realities of youth crime in the 21st century both in the U.K. and internationally,” said Kris Thykier, one of the film’s producers.

Independent financer HanWay Films is trying to sell the film at the ongoing Toronto Film Festival. The film will begin principal photography in the UK in November. Daniel Barber will direct from a script by Gary Young.
