Tom Cruise has been in the news for all the right reasons this year with the Tropic Thunder cameo still holding on top of the box office after three weeks. He has also signed a string of interesting projects like the Sleeper. There have also been talks that he might join the cast of Shrek 4 as a villain. The latest casting news of the actor is the non fiction bestseller The Monster of Florence that he is really interested in which will be produced by his company United Artists. The story traces the life of Preston who relocated his family to Italy in 2000, he soon became aware of a nearby murder committed years ago by the region’s serial killer, The Monster of Florence. He teams up with local obsessive investigative journalist to track the killer down. But their investigation led them to be suspected by the authorities leading to the arrest of the journalist and pegged for a short time as the Monster.

This is the second film in the works after the cerebral Zodiac directed by David Fincher who is also probably making a movie called Torso with Matt Damon. There has been no word on who will helm the picture but expect news on it soon.
