How many of you have been tested by God?

Do you think these tests make us loose all reasoning?

Can there be singular incidents that make us realize that it is time to let go?

M. Night Shymalan had studied a lot about how Christians go about their lives trying to break free of their chains of doubt. His eye for this was last seen in the movie Sixth Sense where characters are totally oblivious of why and how are their consequences affecting people around them. This is another one of those stories with the similar riddles but with a totally different context.

Graham Hess is a former Episcopal priest who has lost his faith after an accident took away the life of his wife by a veterinarian named Ray Reddy played by the mystical M. Night Shymalan. At the time of its release it was known for its unusual character studies. The film reaches some really high points with the character played by Joaquin Phoenix the brother of Graham Ness. Nothing is really certain about why has he turned into who he is but there is whole lot of significance to what part he must play in the struggle that the family is about to come face to face with.

Mel Gibson who plays Graham Hess plays the role with no understanding of where the director will lead him to. Not a single character gives the plot of the film away. This is what makes this collaborative effort one of the definitive horror films of our generation.

Things are all run of the mill until some mysterious crop circles surface in Graham’s corn field. It is here where the whole film turns on its head. When we think it is a movie about a two men who are struggling with their faiths and a child suffering from asthma. This is where everything you have just been watching takes a turn for the worst. Nightmarish situations begin to surface and you are sucked into what might turn out to be one of most rewarding hellish experiences ever.

Night is really on the top of his game in this movie. He uses sparse locals and long grains to create something that is surely going to leaving you tingling after the events unfold. He uses simply ploys like the television to confront our worst fears of life beginning to exist in outer space. The whole science fiction element to the story tightens the plot creating so many layers that once you begin to peel you are sure to be terrified.

I really hope Night goes back to his routes by taking on stories that are so universal but are turned on its head with just a twisted aspect.
