Pedro Almodovar the man behind classics like Talk to Her, Volver and the hugely popular All About my Mother and several other great movies. He has now vowed Sony Picture Classics for his new movie called Broken Embraces that is to star the voluptuous Penelope Cruz.
Sony Picture Classics has bought the North American rights for the film. The film will star Pedro’s favorite actors like Lluis Homar and Blanca Portillo. It is being shot in the style of 1950s American film noir. Almodovar is shooting on location in Madrid and the Canary Islands.
The plot involves a four-person love story and “touches on many genres,” including thriller, according to the director. This will mark the 10 th film the director will be signed on to the Sony specialty arm.
The film will be produced by Pedro’s brother. Filmmaker has called the movie “the most novel-like story I have written to date” and says its shadowy look was partly inspired by a series of migraines that rendered him ultra-sensitive to bright lights.
