A scene from his upcoming movie

He is all set to star in a sports film in which he will have to run faster, jump higher, shoot more and shoot less. Sam Rockwell seems to have all these moves pat on for his new movie with the director of Grace Is Gone.

“I’m researching a basketball movie. I play a basketball coach,” he said. “It’s a dramatic film about an alcoholic basketball coach and this girl’s high school basketball team.” The film will be directed by James Strouse director of Grace is Gone.

The film will be a mix of inspirational and documentary style. So this movie is going to be one of the Basketball Diaries type movies.

“It’s kind of like ‘Bad News Bears’ meets ‘Half Nelson’ meets ‘Hoosiers’” Rockwell said of the film’s tone. “[But at the center is this] great character. [In preparation] I’m learning about basketball and Bobby Knight.”

There is surely going to be some chair throwing and some big arguments in this movie. Sam Rockwell with his unconventional style is surely going to take this movie to some other place.
