The new biopic on John Lennon is called Nowhere Boy and it almost seems to be one of the most anticipated movies in production for quite some time. There have been a lot of biopics in the last couple of years like the Joy Division Ian Curtis biopic called Control and also the critically lauded Bob Dylan biopic called I’m Not there. This film is being directed by a “visual artist” named Sam Taylor-Wood and will feature a script even written by Control screenwriter Matt Greenhalgh. The film will delve into his early childhood till his subsequent addition to the greatest band in the world The Beatles. The script details “the story of Lennon as a lonely teenager growing up as his aunt and the mother who gave him up fight for his love. His only escape is music, art and his fateful friendship with Paul McCartney.”
The casting for the film is underway and the production of the film will be mostly on location in singer’s hometown Liverpool. Director Sam Taylor-Wood commented saying “the women in John’s early life truly shaped who he became and the strengths and weaknesses of their relationships are central to this film.” This is surely going to be one heady cocktail of a movie. So I m pretty sure fans of the star will come out in their numbers to watch this one.
