There have been several fallacies doing the rounds regarding the big budget Tin Tin project. But here is to set the record straight. Firstly the Hollywood reporter article has turned to be false they have even withdrawn the post. The two part film will be shot by two directors with each of them as producers on the film. The first one will be directed by Steven Spielberg while the second one will be directed by Peter Jackson. There are also talks about a third movie probably directed by the both of them.
TinTin was originally scheduled to into a production in late September. The false report from the Herge Studios saying that Peter Jackson might helm the first film has been withdrawn. The film series will based on the original books entitled The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Recham’s Treasure. The screenplay for the movie is being written by Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat. Steven Moffat is also know to write Jekyll and Coupling for British TV. Moffat was forced to back out of writing the second film due to commitments on Doctor Who.
The film will incorporate the similar performance capture technology used by Robert Zemeckis used on Beowulf. WETA Digital has produced a 20-minute 3D test reel using the technology. The film star Andy Serkins the usual CGI actor for Peter Jackson will play Captain Haddock while teenager Thomas Sangster will play TinTin.
