The Palm D’Or winner ‘The Class’ won the critics award at the Norwegian International film Festival at Haugesund. The Class is directed by Laurent Cantet and it was judged the winner at Cannes with Sean Penn as the head of the jury.
The Norwegian Film Festival is non competitive but gave away a lot of awards last night.
Thomas Vinterberg’s new film A Man Comes Home won the audience award while the Ecumenical Andreas Award went to Erik Poppe’s troubled water. Mike Leigh’s “Happy Go Lucky” also took an award. Rune Denstad’s documentary 99% Honest won an honorary mention along with Vinterberg’s film.
Honorary awards also went to U.K. critic Derek Malcolm, local critic Martin Nordvik and Norwegian kid film helmer Arne Lindtner Naess.
