“Der Baader Meinhof Komplex” is already being called the Downfall of this year with both of the main cast Bruno Ganz and Alexandra Maria Lara part of the cast. The film recounts the violence that was waged by the Red Army Faction in Germany in the late 1960s and 70s. The film will be of the many showcased in this year Rome Festival.
Keira Knightley will star with Ralph Fiennes in the spoiled Duchess. There is also the omnibus picture directed by some of the most happening names in the festival circuit. Gus Van Sant, Mira Nair and Jane Campion are all part of this UN movie that is tackling subject of hunger. The premier will be Rome where the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization is situated.
There will also be a screening of Anthony Wall’s Bob Marley documentary titled Exodus 77. I really can’t wait for that to come out. It recounts the story behind the making of Marley’s final album after his death.
Rome is celebrating Brazilian cinema this year with young helmer Edoardo De Andrade’s documentary Coracao Vagabundo. It talks about the pop sensation Caetano Veloso and is said to attend the screening of the film.
The 10-day fest’s third edition will kick off Oct. 22 with a lavish carnival-like event being prepared by multitasking musician Arto Lindsay.
