John Madden’s movie from period costumes saw him take up film Proof with Gwenyth Paltrow about a woman who has been torn by the death of her father played by the piercing Anthony Hopkins.
His next project after his successful Shakespear in Love and Mrs Brown has signed on to direct the indie dramedy Sex and Sylvia Plath. It is a story on a death obsessed 16 year old who loses her virginity to a teenager, but then she finds out that her mother is also having an affair with him.
Jennifer O’Kieffe penned “Sex and Sylvia Plath” when she was a grad student at UCLA. Daily Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart was one of the three judges that tapped the screenplay for last year’s Samuel Goldwyn Award. Script also made last year’s Black List, an annual compilation of the hottest unproduced screenplays.
WAM films will be producing the film and is already in pre production on the Eddie Murphy starrer A Thousand Words.
