The negotiations have been speeding up on the new Temple Grandin biopic by HBO. Claire Danes is the actor in question and discussions have been ripe in the last couple of months. Temple Grandin was the leading speaker on autism, animal expert and author.
Mick Jackson who has a string of projects under his belt like the Bodyguard, the soon to be aired television series Traffic and HBO’s Live from Baghdad is set to direct the film with a script by Christopher Monger.
Grandin who was stuck with many of the limitations imposed by the disorder to become a top scientist in the field of humane livestock handling.
Many of the toughest times she faced was in high school. The children had begun to nickname her “tape recorder” because she kept repeating things. She was also very hypersensitive to many forms of sensory stimulation. She eventually recovered from all of that and ended up graduating with several degrees and then ended up writing many influential essays on animal welfare and designing more humane ways of slaughtering animals. Danes will probably Grandin in the post academic period giving us a look at the trauma she had gone through.
The actress stars in Richard Linklater’s “Me and Orson Welles,” which premieres in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.
