Toronto finds Stone of Destiny

Efron in Me and Orson Wells

Toronto has revealed its line up already in our other post. But the closing night selection is a film by Charles Martin Smith’s action Comedy “Stone of Destiny. His last movie starred Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore it talked about the poker gaming arena with a twist of love. It was not well received by the critics and audience alike.

There are also some interesting premiers lined up for the festival like Rian Johnson’s “The Brothers Bloom” which stars the rapturous Rachel Weiz also starring in the movie are Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo. Another US-British co production “Easy virtue” with an interesting star cast comprising Colin Firth, Jessica Biel and Kristen Scott Thomas. There is also the new Michael Winterbottom movie called Genova starring Colin Firth once again and Hope Davis.

One of the more expected releases of the year is the Richard Linklaster film called Me and Orson Wells starring Zac Efron. French filmmaker Francois Dupeyron will premier his Aide-toi et le ciel t’aidera” and Rithy Panh’s “Un Barrage center le pacifique.”

Danny Boyle’s light entertainer about a man who won at the Indian version of Who wants to be a millionare called Slumdog Millionair. There is also a weirdly titled movie starring Michael Caine Is there Anybody There? Brazil’s entry to the festival is Last Stop 174 directed by Bruno Barreto. Other entries include Stephen Belber’s romantic comedy “Management,” German director Max Farberbock’s “A Woman in Berlin” and Kevin Smith’s “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” which stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks.
