Finally a release date for the film Pride and Glory has been realized by Warner Bros who have been sort of side lining the movie because of its association with New Line who have been acquired by Warner Bros. The director O’Connor is all set now to direct his next pic called the Warrior at Lionsgate.
Pride and Glory is a film about a family of Gotham Police who have been going through several years of corruption in their department. It stars the ethereal Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight and Noah Emmerich. It eill in the United States on October 24 th. Before that it will be featured in the prestigious Toronto Film Festival.
This comes as there was enough speculation growing around the movie on the release of the film. After New Line sold itself out there was concerns whether the film would ever get screened. There were voices shouted out by the actors and the crew so that the movie wouldnt just disappear into thin air.
O’ Connor the director has been voicing the opinion that it was the New Line boss Bob Shaye who recently left after Warner Bros downsized his operations. Pride and Glory has finally got a release date that is cause of joy for the camp.
Anyway with the new movie Warrior it has finally been bought by Lions Gate who now have the script. It is a story about a mixed martial arts tussle between two estranged brothers who are probably on the course to face each other in a tournament for the heavy weight championship.
O’Connor wrote the script with A.M. Tambakis and Cliff Dorfman, and the helmer will produce with his brother, Greg O’Connor. The helmer credited New Line head Toby Emmerich with being “gracious enough to let it go” to Lionsgate.
O’Connor also plans to write the film as a trilogy. O’Connor has partnered in the 16-man grand prix tourney project with UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture, who will play himself in the film. O’Connor has begun casting “Warrior,” set to shoot January in Mexico and Pittsburgh.
