Just last week we had posted a piece on Gong Li’s new film Shanghai with John Cusack. The film is set to release in 25th September 2008 and is surely going to be one of Gong Li better movies after the forgettable Hannibal origin movie. There are also other big names associated to the project like Ken Watanabe and Chow Yun Fat from the Pirates of Caribbean fame. It also features Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi from Babel for which she was nominated for an Oscar.

The story is about an American Man who returns to corrupt Japanese occupied Shanghai four months before the Pearl Harbor and discovers one of his friends has been killed. But his search for the cause of death makes him fall in love and also uncover some secrets that his government is hiding.
