Monster sequel in the works

The world of Pixar is about to put its head into another sequel and they are really working on this from an unconventional non financial point of view. But what else could be the reason. Bird had this to say to many of the fans of the movie.

At Pixar, the bottom line is the story that you’re telling. And Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan. We feel we have a relation ship with the audience and that they believe in each movie we put out. We believe completely in every movie we put out. If I can come up with a story that is as good or better than that first film, then I’d love to return to that world, but it would have to be story first.

This has come as a little surprise to some after such original works like the Cars and Toy Story even set for sequels. The moment Disney acquired Pixar there has been news of many sequels in the works. But why can’t they just make more original stuff like they usually do? Why settle for a sequel?
All this news about the Monster Inc sequel has been a lot of speculation after Upcoming Pixar had this to say.

“I don’t think a Monsters, Inc. sequel is fully in the works. I know my track records isn’t spotless either. I gave more than my fair share of poo-pooing to a Cars sequel. I blatantly rejected all the evidence piled up in front of me because I didn’t want it to be true. His Monsters, Inc.-esque neither confirmation or denial of a sequel seems to be typical Pixar answers for future products. It’s almost textbook stuff on what to say when questions like that are posed.

But as for Pete Docter’s nervousness, well I think that could be put down to character. I’m sure Pixar have tossed around some ideas for a sequel, and Docter does mention this, but I don’t think any of those ideas have come into full realisation yet. Call me a cynic, but I don’t think we will see a Monsters, Inc. 2 in the near (<2015) future.”

So with this loads of people can lay rest some of the news that has been doing the rounds and hopefully verify the stuff they post once in a while.
