244deschanelzooey100606.jpgJoseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are co-starring in a supposedly offbeat romantic comedy, 500 Days of Summer. Deschanel doesn’t believe in true love and Gordon-Levitt plays a young man who falls head over heels for her. The movie is produced by Fox Searchlight Pictures. It is the feature debut of music video director Marc Webb. He is working based on a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who also wrote Pink Panther 2.

Well…the plot seems somewhat familiar. And Pink Panther 2 as the only other work on the writer’s resume doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, seeing how the Peter Sellers classic was messed up the first time around. But the cast is more than a couple of notches above the average. They wouldn’t have taken it up unless they expected something good to come out of it. Zooey Deschanel can sure act if she gets the appropriate role. And Gordon-Levitt, last seen in Stop-Loss is one of my favorite actors post Mysterious Skin, Brick and The Lookout. His next release is G.I. Joe while Deschanel will appear in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening. It remains to be seen if these talented actors can turn this movie into something interesting or memorable.
