Maverick director Lars Von Trier has announced that his next venture is going to be Anti-Christ, most probably a return to the horror genre for him after a long time. He began his career with the Danish horror mini-series The Kingdom in 1994. Since then he has built up a celebrated and controversial resume. His last release was the Danish comedy film The boss of it all in 2006. He completed his second movie in the US trilogy, Manderlay, in 2005. He has turned his attention to Anti-Christ prior to commencing work on the third part of his trilogy, Wasington.
This new movie tells the story of a wedded couple who retreat to an isolated forest cabin after the woman starts suffering from an anxiety neurosis following the death of their 3-year-old son. Her husband, who is an experienced psychologist and seems to suffer less from the loss, hopes the isolation experiment will help his wife deal with her grief. It will be filmed over 25 to 35 days at the end of the summer in Germany.

Director Isabel Coixet (who made the Sarah Polley, Tim Robbins starrer The Secret Life of Words) has announced her next project, Map of the Sounds of Tokyo. She plans to shoot it almost entirely on location in the Japanese capital. The story centres on an obsessive man who collects both sounds and women. Pénelope Cruz (Volver), is starring. She has also acted in Coixet previous project, the US-funded Elegy. Like Elegy, the Spanish-produced Map of the Sounds of Tokyo will be mostly in English.

Great news, but Trier didn’t start his career with The Kingdom although it was probably his breakthrough. Trier started his career in 1984 with The Element of Crime, a surreal post-apocalyptic serial killer film.
