When there is film that gives us a chance for peace. We need to open our hands wide and accept it. Paradise Now gives us that by sending us shivers on what is the current situation of things in both Isreal and Palestine. A war has been waged for years without end in these two nations. It has reached a stage where not many people know why this war has started.

This film doesn’t provide us with any solution but instead leaves with a story of an atrocity. There are two brothers who have been living their normal lives when suddenly they chance upon an opportunity to become suicide bombers. In their journey there are some light moments like they enter a video store with videos of suicide notes of several so called war heroes. They have given their lives for the people. They are not very optimistic of these views. But they change through the course of the film.

They begin their preparation to become suicide bombers. The moment the bombs are strapped around their bodies the reality shoots at their faces. This is where the harsh morality comes into picture. Their minds begin to question several issues pertaining to te consequences of what they might be doing.

It is a fundamental question that they begin to ask

At what cost do we need to show solidarity to a country?
It pertains to the very ethos of this whole endeavor and gives these people and their state a very bleak future. This sort of mindless carnage is due to the pressure that both of these governments impose on one another. There is no more harmony in such countries. When will peace reside in these homes or is that word been totally removed from the minds of these people. The doves have been destroyed who gives a damn about olive branches. The concept of peace is too archaic for the minds of such people.

The fear that these young men exhibit is what the state of the society is in their country. They have been instilled with ideas of occupation and war. The Isrealis on the other hand failed to recognize any sort of atrocities just hiding all these with language. They are the civil monsters of the new world that will show us how to inflict damage by making it commonplace.

But finally is this film relevant? Yes. There needs to be more stories of this nature to give us a more detailed picture of what is happening in such countries. This way we can take constructive steps for the future generations.
