What are the absolutes in our lives? When do we begin to start laying them in our heads? Is there a time for this or is it relative? This is a film which deals with one mans quest to find solitude. But he is too confined by his very ideals which are bringing his own distractions. He takes refuge his thoughts and approaches a existential detective agency . This agency which is headed by Dustin Hoffman gives him a peaceful retreat. Dustin’s character puts him in a bag and tells him to slowly remove his harmful thoughts and his hatred towards his colleague. This builds up the story of this thought deviating movie to a hilarious rollercoaster.

The characters in this movie are used as symbolic ploys of age old political groups. There is so much of information in this movie which almost sedates us into a saturated state of a real world. The film is a statement of how rely so much on getting to know themselves. They fallen prey to all the new philosophies and have created a blanket over their thoughts. There are people who go to such groups to find themselves but instead are left distancing themselves from what is real and important. Albert played by the very talented Jason Schwartzman is stuck in the intricacies of these detectives. He ends up with another competing detective who try to divert the clients of the other detectives by taking their clients. Albert ends falling in love with this lady. But none of these people are prepared for life itself. These detectives have worked with theories without reading into some of lives basic questions. This leaves Albert and his colleague played by the immaculate Jude Law who infuses a mastery of the subject unlike any of his co stars.

Some of the best points of this movie is the mastery of the dialogue. It leaves a very beautiful mind map of each characters. There are also some crazy coincidences which try to hold the plot together. But Albert with his web of lies leads these detectives on a trail which germinates from his weird upbringing. He is the quintessential attention seeker. He drives a whole organization through his trail of depression. But these analogies are used as parodies of what current administration is doing about Iraq. It almost leaves asking ourselves if these characters were used to describe the mind of Bush itself. This can be a bit too much to define his mind as an amazing mess.
